I think the "it's like *, only far more*" formula works well here. Check the hits for yourself :)
Example sentence:
Es como el bingo, pero con espectáculo.

It's (just) like bingo with a show thrown in (for good measure).
I'm sure you'll get a lot of suggestions for this one!

: Nice! // And I once had a Dalmatian so I know what you mean.

Thanks, Claudia. I once had a bull terrier, so this text is really painful for me. It's so difficult for me that some people get a kick out dog fights. Oof! Think pleasanter thoughts!

: I would have selected Jenni Shepherd's answer in a different context, but, given the tone/register implied by the context provided your option is spot on.

Thanks, Julie. When I walked my bull terrier in Richmond, Va, creepy people would come up to me asking if I wanted to breed her to produce fighting dogs and the breeder even warned me that people could try to kidnap her for that purpose!

: I like this one, but also depends on the register of the speaker. If the character is definitely lower class or if the phrase is supposed to be comical (because it's ridiculous) I wouldnt use the "for good measure" portion. That register is too high .

Thanks for your opinion, rragan. I don't think it's too strong (or cynical) for a person who enjoys attending dog fights (and the category of leisure time activity pretty much makes class a mute issue here).

It's like bingo but with entertainment
I guess the idea is that people gamble, like at bingo, then get the entertainment of watching the dogs fight?

it's like bingo but far more exciting!
don't think you can really call a dog fight a "show" or "entertainment". They're pretty gruesome affairs. But this type likes the blood, guts and gambling (and cruelty to the dogs as well probably) so it's exciting and fun for them

Thanks Judy! I'm really surprised people are going with "show" for this sort of moronic behaviour

It's like bingo, but with fireworks!
A little more metaphorical... and perhaps capturing the idea of the violence etc.

It's like bingo, but with blood.
Thought this might reflect the dark humour in the source text a bit more accurately.

It's just like bingo but bloodier
I think it reflects his passion for gambling. As long as there's money involved, he doesn't care someone gets hurt.
