Czech term

kladou do závorky

I understand what's meant, but what's the best way to put it in English?
(My option follows)
Afterwards, when Prague became not only the seat of the Emperor of the Roman Empire, but also one of the centers of European education and medieval culture, this opened up a chapter that some are parenthesizing and others consider to be the cornerstone of constituting the Czech identity.

I suppose so.
Non-ProZ.com Jul 24, 2003:
To Elenacb: Would "neglecting" be OK?
