PhD

CSc (Candidate of Science) is a construction borrowed from the USSR system in the 50ies. The qualifications and the examinations required for this title correspond best to a PhD. Today, Czech universities
no longer issue the CSc title. Instead, after 3-4 years of graduate studies, you will be awarded a regular PhD. Therefore, I believe that PhD is the most accurate English counterpart of the former CSc title.
