Bio
Kyrgyzstan as a former Soviet Republic had once delegated
its international relations to the center with resulting in
no possibility to face native speakers and have live contacts
for those willing to master English at the professional level.
As you suppose to be accomplished an experienced translator should get
the support as a sort of feedback in daily communication.
Fortunately, the situation has changed greatly
with gaining independence. Now it is a country where many international
representations and companies are residing and translators here
are quite competitive with their fellows in other countries.

The possibility to work as a translator is available not only
for those specialized in English, but for other background people
when additional skills with the simultaneous knowledge of English
become most preferable.

I started as a translator with dedication to work in the area of
mining and geology owing to my first employer--Kumtor Operating Company,
a joint venture with the Canadian participation.

But my vocation being much more of a humanistic trend, namely linguistics,
I became alienated form the flow of technicalities, without possibility to
visualize them ever. I have been working then in the fields, which are more
connected with human needs, such as Agriculture (EU-based TACIS, the Swiss
Helvetas),Law (the State Patent Agency) and Finance, namely Accounting
(the World Bank, USAID).

I worked as free-lance translator for "The Times of Central Asia", publication
in English for two years.
Keywords: accounting, geology, patent law
