It depends on what you mean by exercise, never if you mean going to a gym or a box (my daughter Marta is a crossfitter), but I do walk 3 times a day for 20 minutes each time, thanks to my aging dog…

I don't "exercise" Oct 28, 2021

Some people practice exercising, healthy lifestyle and personal growth.
Some other people, including yours truly, do exactly the same things, but without ideology, just for fun.

Every day Oct 29, 2021

Every day I walk for about half an hour around our community park, but it's not brisk or strenuous because I'm not up to that with asthma and other complications. I also use exercise equipment at home for about half an hour a day.

I have vowed to not own a gas-powered vehicle. So until electric cars and electric scooters are commonplace (which in turn, makes charging stations also commonplace), I just walk to all places I need to go, everyday. Does that count as an exercise?

Working at a desk you need to move Oct 29, 2021

Sitting at a desk all day isn't good for us, we're designed to walk and work (hunt, gather).

Nowadays I trek to the waterfalls with the dog first thing, resistance band workout midday, box the bag after walking the dog in the evenings.

Don't do extreme sports anymore, still climb mountains.

I usually go to the gym 5 or 6 times a week, but now with a new lockdown it is closed again, so at the moment it's 0.
I like gym because it doesn't require much planning, fits perfectly in my daily routine and also takes me out of the house. With intense brain work, physical activity is even more important for my mental health than for the physical. Motivation Oct 29, 2021

There are many reasons why people exercise/move: heart health, brain health, just overall health, being physically able to do things, having good posture, looking good, challenging yourself, feeling good, etc... All are good reasons and good goals. There's no need to feel that we are superior to others because our reasons differ (or because we exercise more or less often).

All are good reasons and good goals. There's no need to feel that we are superior to others because our reasons differ (or because we exercise more or less often).

Personally, I exercise at home on a mat. I've never been to a gym since we don't have any good ones here. Luckily, one can get fit easily at home if they have the space for a mat (no other equipment is really needed). I also like to go hiking, running, and swimming. Even just walking is fantastic for the body and brain, so I think it definitely counts as exercise.

What keeps me going most of the time and what makes it worth it for me are the reasons above, seeing results, and feeling good in my own body even though I sit a lot. That's my motivation, but everybody is different. Fun alone would not be enough of a motivator for me (that's just how I am), but it often is a pleasant side effect. There's nothing wrong about getting out of your comfort zone and pushing your boundaries because [insert your personal reasons]. That in itself can be fun, and I find it very rewarding when I see improvements in an area I've been working hard on.

As for how often: I try to do something every day. With emphasis on "try"

Three times a week Oct 29, 2021

I've been following a calisthenics routine (r/bodyweightfitness Recommended Routine) since 2020.

My new year's resolution for 2020 was to start a strength training routine. I chose calisthenics over lifting because I didn't want to bother with a gym and wanted to be able to do my workout at home. I am glad I did chose calisthenics because, as you all know, COVID started to spread like wildfire few months later and all gyms got closed as a result.

Surprised Oct 29, 2021

Surprised to see that the majority does not exercise when translation is a sedentary job. Exercise helps the mind to re-focus and refresh and relaxes tired joints. You do not need to go to a gym but you must definitely be strong-willed to include it in your weekly, if not daily, routine. I was told that doing chores is not exercise, Neilmac

I find that I get more done when I've started the day with a good yoga session, and I feel more active. I'm sure it's good for my brain as well as my body.
