Hello Adam, the COPD appears to be a confounding factor, but MAP is a standard Spanish abbreviation for Primary Care Doctor (Medico de atencion primaria-MAP in the Ministry of Health handbook)

I have literally just seen David Brown's message - for the record:

"Primary Care Doctor" is not used in the UK". It is General Practitioner.

I am talking about the United Kingdom here, and I know this for sure as I work with them! All GPs work in Primary Care in the UK, although some DO work in hospitals part-time, but they are still GPs. A physician could be either a consultant here or a GP

disagree Silvia Silberstein : sería raro que en un original en español usaran la abreviatura inglesa para algo que no es técnico, salvo que el original sea por ejemplo de Estados Unidos, y allí se conozca la sigla. En ese caso podrías tener razón (y yo estar equivocada, claro)

Silvia, la verdad que no entiendo tu comentario y mucho menos tu disagree! Es un texto español y han usado una abreviatura española (MAP, Médico de Atención Primaria).
