ex: Car crime nationally is decreasing, but there is still a need to be vigilant and take precautions. Make these precautions part of your routine and you will decrease your risk of becoming a victim:
remove all items of value from your vehicle when you park
lock doors and close windows
park in a safe place, which should be well-lit, preferably with CCTV
keep your keys safe at home

Note from asker:
It is a tricky one. The topic covers both theft from cars and theft of cars. Therefore the term chosen needs to include both 'vol de voiture' and 'vol à la roulotte', but also theft of cars via hijacking. what would be your opinion on 'délinquance routière', or is it too close to 'road rage' and the like??? I am trying to coin a word with the input of people like you who are answering my query. Thanks |

I believe that "délinquance routière" is used for crimes done on the road, not on parked cars. hmmm, Tricky you are right.
I still believe it would be too restricted to use "vol de voitures", especially since we have not much context to consider.

infractions automobiles
Since the topic covers both theft from cars and theft of cars, as you mentioned, you could say "infractions véhiculaires" too. The commonly used expression however in such a case is 'infraction automobile' which covers all scenarios.
