born here, went there, want back
Example sentence:
She was born in Burgos but was taken to Russia as a baby. Now, at 92, she wants to abandon her adopted nationality as she feels "Spanish to the core".

: Sorry, they are not foreign nationals, they are Spanish nationals. I believe here we have "naturalised nationality vs nationality of origin".

foreign citizens (and change the sentence)
I would change the sentence to: ... and 352 foreign citizens who are making use of the Law to acquire the Spanish(?) nationality
Good luck with it, Kate!

: Sorry, they are not foreign nationals, they are Spanish nationals. // Thanks, Peter! This is largely symbolic (or self-perpetuating need for funcionarios) Same rights with nationality of origin as with naturalized nationality for Spanish nationals.

Point taken, Carlos! I was under the impression that a difference in rights/privileges for naturalized people is against European guidelines.// Thanks for enlightening me, Carlos!

nationality not by birth / acquired nationality
Dado que se trata de contraponer nacionalidad no de origen con nacionalidad de origen, creo que estas dos opciones pueden servir.
pasar de nacionalidad no de origen a nacionalidad de origen = from nationality not by birth / acquired nationality to nationality of origin / nationality by birth
pasar de nacionalidad no de origen a nacionalidad de origen = from nationality not by birth / acquired nationality to nationality of origin / nationality by birth

: In Spain grandchildren of Spaniards were granted the Spanish nationality with favoured conditions as against those for other foreigners. So I'd use your first option rather than "foreigners".

naturalized / naturalised nationality
Naturalized nationality: nationality acquired by a foreign national
nacionalidad no de origen - nacionalidad de origen : both categories here refer to Spanish nationals, but this is about naturilized citizens who want their Spanish nationality to be recognized as being the "nationality of origin" (by virtue of place of birth, family...), or in other words, they want to be recognized as having been Spanish nationals all along.
It is not "foreign/alien nationality" as proposed by some collleagues.

Which goes with "of origin" and "not of origin", which was later approved for this article: http://www.maec.es/en/MenuPpal/Actualidad/Notas de Prensa/Pa... by the proofreader. I think it works. Thanks everyone for your help. You came up with some great alternatives. Always appreciated. Have a nice week. :)
