Hello, yes, I have considered the obvious translation but as I wasn't sure about it I posted my question... you're right about sharing my thoughts, I will do it next time! Thank you

Micaela What do you think it might mean? Have you considered the obvious translation and rejected it? You need to share your thoughts with us, rather than just posting questions and leaving the work to us.

inert atmosphere (work)

the fact that it's a nitrogen atmosphere rather than an argon atmosphere is irrelevant here: "inert atmosphere" is a general term that can cover all manner of inert blanket gases.

Hi,
They are talking about what you need to purge with nitrogen so that the medium is inert. Usually we just say "performed under nitrogen" and don't use "atmosphere". It's sometimes called a nitrogen blanket too. I'd probably recast and say something like 'Tubing and needles for the nitrogen purge and a 0.2 gas filter.'

neutral Nigel Wheatley : without more context of the procedure, I would be wary of calling it a simple nitrogen "purge", which might be ambiguous. We might not say "nitrogen atmosphere", but we certainly do use "inert atmosphere" as a general term.
