Discussion

The Misha Jan 13, 2016:
Contd. What the Court itself calls it is in no way a holy grail for those of us who are outside its immediate jurisdiction since this is apparently a translation done by a nonnative in a non-English speaking country, so their terminology should be suspect. Unless, of course, this is for internal consumption and every piece of люминь has to be люминь, or else.

Judgment

Their own terminology, e.g.:

vs

Any other choice (not based on their own terminology) would be very risky, as they make distinctions between постановления, определения, решения and заключения. A translator's hell, if you ask me:

neutral The Misha : This is largely a matter of convention, & what matters most is consistency rather than the choice of particular terms. However, "judgment" in legal parlance is traditionally reserved for decisions of trial courts. See above for more.

ruling of constitutional bench of Russian Federation

ruling of constitutional bench of Russian Federation of refusal to institute a suit on the complaint of citizen of country XXX on the violation of his constitutional right as contained in article YYY of code of Russian Federation
Peer comment(s):

disagree The Misha : This is very poor, nonnative English. Also, the body is called the Constitutional Court, not bench.

disagree Cornelius Gillen : I support The Misha; the bench would normally mean a panel of judges
