neutral Tony M : That's all very well, but translates 'circulation list' — if the writer specifically chose to use 'roster', there may have been some particular reason for doing so, which you have not addressed in your suggestion.

I find this usage rather odd in EN (is this AE?)

By 'roster', I would understand the list of people working a certain shift — but addressing them all in general, so 'all people working the night shift', for example. Hence why there would be no need to check their names.
