Monitoring process
Hola nuevamente,
Monitoring means observing and collecting/gathering information. Evaluating is reflecting on what has been observed in order to confirm if we are [still] in the right ‘path’… Monitoring is the observation and the systematic analysis of the implementation of a project, the means [that are] used and the intermediate results. It must be based on landmarks of the implementation and performance indicators previously defined, and it is used to warn about problems and **gradually make** adaptative adjustments or correction along the way.

The "ir + gerund" construction can sometimes be hard to express without trying to force in a placeholder because it's not always so explicit in English. Here, you don't even need to try because you already have "en el camino" at the end of the sentence, which allows you to readily express this as a progressive action in English.
"It should be based on pre-established project milestones and performance indicators and is useful for flagging issues and making adaptive adjustments or corrections along the way"

Discussion
Thank you very, very much for the suggestion.
Quise decir "adaptive.."
