I've found a drug called "Mesna" (same in both Italian and English) which is described in Italian as being a "uroprottetore" used alongside chemotherapy drugs to prevent urothelial toxicity/decrease the risk of bleeding from the bladder. Can't find a nice concise way of saying this in English though...

Sorry, should be "mesna" with a lower case "m" as it's the name of the active ingredient and not the brand name :)
