How COVID-19 pandemic has affected retail trends around the world


China’s YoY traffic, fell below their baseline, as their government imposed a lockdown on January 23rd.
The very next day, they experienced a drop in traffic to negative 60%, which quickly fell to negative 90% between the end of January and mid-February.
Then, as the active case counts started to drop the government began to ease restrictions and traffic began to slowly rebound.
The disruption began with the lockdown on January 23rd and seemed to conclude with the reopening of Wuhan. The total traffic disruption is about 75 days.
Also note that there are two unique spikes in early April. This was due to a YoY seasonal holiday shift.
