Spanish term

al portero

Spanish to English Other Livestock / Animal Husbandry Mexico

This text appears in a letter from Mexico. I don't know if it could mean cowshed or barn? Or maybe it's a typo for pastura?

I came across a link to this tweet that seems to use the word similarly:

...and a link to a post on Trip Advisor that says: Playa Potrero is a small town strung out along the coast. I'm told that in Spanish its name means "a place by the beach where the cows eat." I guess I could go with cowshed, but would like to confirm this meaning if possible.

Thanks in advance

@Asker portero? (as in your ST) - or potrero? (as in the heading to this question, and the twitter-quote)

pasture

Assuming the question is about potrero - which is open pasture land, often at some altitude above the farmstead:
-->
(he) helped us herd/bring the cows down from the pastures for milking
Peer comment(s):

agree Tomasso : Pues, en EEUU, pasture, Inglaterra Paddock, Asker is in USA. Marking and boxing bullocks in the paddock. Traduccion al Ingles (correcto, lol, joking, bromeando) Roping and branding steers in the pasture on the hillsice.

grass fed

Generally, grass fed beef is considered to be a healthier option than grain-fed beef. Pound for pound, it has less total fat, and therefore less calories. ... For example, grass fed beef has as much as five times the amount of omega-3 fatty acids as regular grain fed beef.Sep 30, 2020
