German term

Einziehung des Balkens

German to English Medical Medical (general) Radiology results
Not getting a clear picture for "Einziehung des Balkens" at all - any thoughts on how to express this in EN most welcome.

It appears in an extract from a radiology report:

In der SWI zeigt sich ein länglicher Suszeptibilitätsartefakt im anterioren Anteil des Corpus callosum, korrelierende feine T2 und T1 hypointense Linie sowie kleine *Einziehung des Balkens*. A minor *what* of the c.c.? Assuming the Balken is indeed the c.c, here, since it was mentioned in its Latin form just a few words earlier.

That's the limit of what I can quote, given the confidential nature of the overall report.

corpus callosum with retraction

The Balken is indeed the corpus callosum and Einziehung simply means that somewhere in the cc tissue has undergone retraction - for whatever reason.

*agenesis / hypoplasia*

Susceptibility Weighted Imaging shows an elongated susceptibility artifact in the anterior part of the corpus callosum, correlating fine T2 and T1 hypointense lines and minor *agenesis / hypoplasia*.

disagree Dietrich Herrmann, MD, PhD, MBA : Agenesis and hypoplasia have nothing to do with retraction but refer to a congenital pathology. They pertain to the entire orgsn while retraction is a localized abnormality.
