Maria, I didn't know that. It's not used in Germany, as far as I know. But there are quite a few Austrian Google hits. Frank, is this an Austrian document?

The preposition "aus" together with "eine Pr�fung ablegen" is quite usual in university documents etc. at least in Austria.
