По-иному эти (частотные)области называются "полосами пропускания и непропускания". Если групповая скорость волны (Vгр = dW/dk) положительна, точнее совпадает по знаку с фазовой скоростью Vф= W/k (W-частота, k-волновое число), то это условия распространения волны. Если направления противоположны, то в этой области волна не распространяется и электромагнитное поле существует в виде колебания.
Соответствующая полоса пропускания называется transmittance band, а полоса непропускания - rejection band

: Propagation/non-propagation, I'd say. This is about propagation of waves in a medium, therefore it refers to the properties of the medium; 'rejection' would presume an action/reaction, rather than just a passive property. IMHO.
