The hydraulic unit of these large spherical valves are located in the middle of a gallery which also houses hydraulic accumulators at one end. There is currently no adequate retention provided around the groups. In case of a fire, a large oil leak could overflow the existing small drain trenches, and cause a large pool fire in this gallery, with possible fire extension to the hydraulic accumulators. ***Curbing*** the groups with adequate drains would be sufficient. An alternative to the ***curbing*** would be to install automatic water spray fire protection (sprinklers) at ceiling level over the entire area of the gallery, in order to maintain a control of the temperature in this confined area in case of a fire.

"To curb" peut signifier enrayer, contenir. Ici il s'agit donc de contenir l'incendie au moyen d'un système de drainage (drain). Une autre possibilité étant l'utilisation d'asperseurs ou sprinklers.
"Curbing the groups" revient à protéger les groupes au moyen d'un système de drainage destiné à contenir un éventuel incendie. C'est ce que je comprends en tout cas.

Je traduirais donc; "entourer les groupes d'une digue de rétention en construisant des drains de taille adéquate"

Endiguer peut aussi convenir, pour le second cas.
