This is a review of a show by a Peruvian painter from the 20s in an ARgentine newspaper:

la crítica publicada en Le Courrier de la Plata por Víctor Délhez la que “llega más a la médula del valor de Sabogal”, pues “su técnica es de una simplicidad primordialmente pictórica, excluyente del dibujo y los rellenos”.

Is "rellenos" extras here, the idea of something superfluous, or is it something specific to art?

The webref below is utterly modern, but, heck, this basic terminology hasn't changed much in the past several centuries...

outline = dibujo, relleno = shading (i.e. giving the outlined area a shade (tint, colour, etc.)).
