Spanish term or phrase: tufete
A text by an Argentine artist. Is it an expression based on "tu fe te ha sanado"? If so, is there an analogous expression in English? If not...
Por otra parte, pienso en la ribera como esa costa, ese yuyo de caraguatás y plantitas, la miasma originaria, que en realidad viene de Osvaldo Baigorria, que recorriendo la reserva me dijo: “Esta es la miasma originaria. Esa podredumbre de los charquitos de donde todo nace”. Como una especie de tufete entre todas esas cosas, pensaba.

IMHO, translating it as "stink, stench, reek, unpleasant smell" would be over-egging the pudding, as "podredumbre de los charquitos" already evokes the rotten smell.

Another option could be "miasma" if the author hadn't already used that in the sentence.
