Very odd question Apr 25, 2023

What a weird question. That is not how a business works. If you run a business, you don't use a payment from a client to pay for something, you just do what is necessary to run your business. If a certain expense depends on the payment of a single invoice, I don't think that is an example of good entrepreneurship.

I don't know Apr 25, 2023

Paying my bills, putting food on my table and helping out my children financially are not dependent at all on the last payment received from a client…

Secondary occupation ? Apr 25, 2023

I sometimes wonder how many of these questions are asked by people who only translate as a secondary job. It's not about some sort of pocket money we are talking here if you are a full-time professional translator. "Oh look, a payment. For clarity reasons it would be good to know who works as a translator in a secondary occupation and who doesn't, because those are really 2 different worlds that can't really be compared to each other (it would also enhance comprehension of certain answers in other hot translation topics).

I don't even know how much the last payment comes to, and won't know until the end of the month when I look at my accounts.
However I'm planning to invest the money left over from everyday expenses in an environment-friendly firm. I don't know exactly what yet, but I'm also transferring my money to a bank that doesn't invest in oil, and I'll be asking them for suggestions. I'm also looking into the Team for the Planet which invests in such ventures.

Another donation Apr 25, 2023

I made another donation to help the poor whales of my Urals region. Our environment is so unfriendly to them...

oops misread question Apr 25, 2023

I thought the "first" payment and thought back to early days!
The last payment received is sitting in the bank and will stay there until there are bills or taxes to be paid.
The first on the list is the accountant's bill, next month the car road tax ....

BTW Apr 25, 2023

I would have been extremely happy if the last payment received from a client was enough to pay the brand new car I just bought. Wishful thinking on my part...

Income = nest egg Apr 25, 2023

Part of my translation income is directed to savings. Making a nest egg is a must for a translator.

It will help to pay for some expensive medical treatment I need for my foot. Plantar Fasciitis. Good quality treatment is not available on the NHS.
