Now, we don't have a similarly colorful Zolotaya Rybka in English. What DO we have?

I realize no one is coming to get me if I simply write it off as one of those untranslatables, but why waste a good challenge? Any creative solutions appreciated, especially from natives and equivalents. The way I see it, it doesn't have to be profane, so please take it easy with the four-lettered stuff. It just has to be natural - or it won't work at all. Many thanks.

For those who understand - I'm just very humbly trying to suggest that on some occasions (or OPPORTUNITIES???) it could be appropriate/adequate to substitute a folklore of one nation for a folklore of another nation (or MANY nations) OR to try to do a mix.

E.g.,

(1) U.S. version

Given the particular extensive context (finally exposed on the 'panel') I would rather (with all possible reservations) insist on 'Danaos' (NOT 'Greeks') in my translation option (at least 'Danaos' would not sue me).

The first one quite offensive but closer to the original, the second one milder. There are various spellings of that type of gold Fish (sometimes capitalizes, etc—you may want to choose the one that suits you best.

Спасибо, Майкл. Тут на самом деле эта золотая рыбка вообще сбоку-припеку. А насчет греков мне тоже не очень понятно, как и о том, куда тут пристегнуть Конституцию США и Христа-спасителя. Но по крайней мере Вы хоть знаете, что это греки. Я думал - это про марсиан:)
Это только в письменной форме - для пущей кучерявости и чтоб потомки не судили строго:) - а так я все тот же асоциальный имперский реднэк. Даже и не сомневайся. Тут не в переводе-то вовсе дело, тут надо "чего-то особенного", а вот чего, хз, как говорят некоторые современные русские люди. Да я в принципе и так уже разобрался. С пионерским приветом.
