English to Portuguese: In a Different Voice: Psychological Theory and Women's Development General field: Social Sciences Detailed field: Psychology
Source text - English Levinson's conception is informed by the idea of "the
Dream," which orders the seasons of a man's life in the same way
that Jupiter's prophecy of a glorious destiny steers the course of
Aeneas' journey. The Dream about which Levinson writes is also a
vision of glorious achievement whose realization or modification
will shape the character and life of the man. In the salient relationships in Levinson's analysis, the "mentor" facilitates the realization of the Dream, while the "special woman" is the helpmate who encourages the hero to shape and live out his vision: "As the novice adult tries to separate from his family and pre-adult world, and to enter an adult world, he must form significant relationships with other adults who will facilitate his work on the Dream. Two of the most important figures in this drama arc the 'mentor' and the 'special woman' (p. 93).
English to Portuguese: Walking Beside the Kamogawa, Remembering Nansen and Fudo and Gary’s Poem General field: Art/Literary Detailed field: Poetry & Literature
Source text - English Here are two half-grown black cats perched on a
lump of old teakettle brick plastic garbage
ten feet from the west bank of the River.
I won’t save them. Right here Gary sat with dying Nansen,
The broken cat, warped and sick every day of its life,
Puke & drool on the tatami for Gary to wipe up & scold,
“If you get any worse I’m going to have you put away!”
The vet injected an overdose of nemby and for half an hour
Nansen was comfortable.
How can we do this, how can we live and die?
How does anybody choose for somebody else.
How dare we appear in this Hell-mouth weeping tears,
Busting our heads in ten fragments making vows &
promises?
Suzuki Roshi said, “If I die, it’s all right. If I should
live, it’s all right. Sun-face Buddha, Moon-face Buddha.”
Why do I always fall for that old line?
We don’t treat each other any better. When will I
Stop writing it down.
promessas?
Suzuki Roshi disse "Se eu morrer, tudo bem. Se devo viver,
tudo bem.

Bio
My
background with the English language goes way back to when I was a kid and
helped my friends with online games (that is how I learned, by the way). At
University, I focused on Linguistics and Literature, two other important areas
of interest to me.
On a
personal level, I am an avid cooker, enjoy reading and learning about computer
hardware (hey, I built my PC!) and I am also a little bit obsessed with music:
I am always searching and listening to new artists and genres.
