Checking out further study opportunities for SY 2004-2005, I came across www.prospects.ac.uk , which I have left open at the T&I information page.

However, I found T&I information page.

However, I found this page to be of universal applicability.

The most revealing question is, perhaps, "Why undertake postgraduate study", which has been asked so many times before in these forums.

Check it out, and "to thine own self be true..."

includes using the internet and email, it makes no mention of CAT tools. Quite apart from their potential benefits in terms of quality and consistency, CAT tools have a significant impact on your work flow!

Cheers,

Now that you point it out, the assimilation of computers seems to have been taken for granted (when I started in this - oh so long ago - there were still quite a number of electric typewriters in the staff room).

As for CAT tools, I can understand their non-inclusion. We talked about them (but not MT, which was generally dismissed) in the classroom, but it really would've taken more additional time to tackle in-depth.

As for CAT tools, I can understand their non-inclusion. We talked about them (but not MT, which was generally dismissed) in the classroom, but it really would've taken more additional time to tackle in-depth.

Technical terminology database institutions and ISO-type organisations were among the first to point out their impact. They would usually send speakers for one or two class sessions, but that was completely at the discretion of the teaching authorities.

Later on, when you got into the field, you found out that organisations like ITI hold special seminars on CAT tools.

Certain large-scale employers ask for them, but do not require them on recruitment. I got on-the-job coaching from a UN outsourcer, for instance, and was informed by the EU that they also held training courses for in-house staff.
