Explain how long catheter will stay in, who will change it and... How long can a Foley catheter stay in? I couldn't imagine any doctor here letting a foley stay in for 3 months at at time... There are two types of long term intravenous catheters that are surgically placed in ... these catheters are designed to stay in longer... ... and for how long it has to stay in. If the catheter if for long term use it will be changed every 3 months...
