Nothing Dec 3, 2016

I contemplate nothingness - this is essential to Zen Buddhism.

So is scratching my nuts, but I'm not going to tell anyone that.

It varies Dec 3, 2016

I usually start by freshly squeezing some oranges. This morning I switched the PC on before I put on my trousers, so the temperature must be higher than in the past few days. Then, I quickly hosed down my terrace to remove a blob of hen poo ( I keep free range chickens which wander about freely, and occasionally they'll leave their callng card). On other days I might start cleaning out the ash from the previous night's fire, or some other household chore - there's always something needing done.

Get some tea + coffee Dec 3, 2016

I prepare my breakfast while I watch the news: orange and lemon juice, green tea, scrambled eggs, ham and toast, followed by an espresso coffee. Then I have a shower and… I’m ready to start again! In the meanwhile it took 30 seconds for my PC to start up..

It is ready in about 30 seconds, and finding something to do only for 30 seconds takes about 30 seconds, so it is better to relax and enjoy those 30 seconds... instead of wasting 30 seconds while trying to find something to do only for 30 seconds....

My Mac starts in less than 1 minute, but still I can't wait and go to grab a coffee, hahah Maybe a habit from old times when it took like 5 minutes for a PC to start up!

Try not to get irritated about the compulsory picture of mountains and a lake that comes with Windows 10... We got rid of it, but it came back with an update, and so far no amount of clicking around has had any effect.

There's no going back to good old XP, though I still have my XP computer. I used to turn that on, then go and clean my teeth while it warmed up, and then after typing my login, I went and made coffee, or checked the snail-mail!

Simply a matter of planning. I haven't discovered any features in the later versions that were actually better than XP once it had started up.
