Salve.

Forse inserire qualche riga in più avrebbe reso più chiara la situazione.
Mi sembra di capire che marito e moglie, parlando con un rivenditore di mobili, all'improvviso si rendono conto di aver acquistato, negli ultimi anni, solo mobilio per i bambini e senza averne mai discusso. La domanda "if you brought that home, would you give it house space?", si pone in relazione con l'affermazione precedente : "in realtà, forse non ne abbiamo mai parlato". Per questo tradurrei "Se ve ne foste accorti, avreste fatto spazio in casa?".

Allego un pagina web con alcuni esempi che riportano l'espressione idiomatica "Bring it home".

disagree  cynthiatesser: non si può forzare il senso più di tanto, qui si riferiscono ad un oggetto ed il senso è letterale

  -> Potrebbe essere come dice lei, si figuri. Purtroppo il contesto è poco chiaro, quindi aspetterei il parere dell'utente prima di essere in disaccordo, che ne dice? Se poi lei ha a disposizione una parte più consistente del testo, allora mi scusi ancora.

la frase si riferisce per caso a un mobile che stanno pensando di acquistare/prendere o no?

Se sì, allora intenderei il tutto così: è un mobile ingombrante, vale la pena di concedergli del prezioso spazio?

A volte lo spazio è più "valuable" del mobilio! :D
