French term or phrase: reprise hydrique
Patent to do with curable materials

"- le XXX améliore sensiblement la température de transition vitreuse mais contribue à la reprise hydrique ; tandis que
- le YYY a une action défavorable sur la ténacité mais améliore la température de transition vitreuse et, surtout, limite fortement la reprise hydrique."

The term "reprise hydrique" can't be found anywhere I've looked... but I presume the meaning is "water absorption" or "water reabsorption"... can anyone confirm?

English translation:take-up of water
Explanation:
"Take-up" is a bit more general than absorption or adsorption. Most polymers do indeed "absorb" water, affecting both their mechanical and electrical properties.

water uptake

Explanation:
Term of the art. I pasted a couple of examples in as links. You'll find hundreds of thousands.
You'll see water sorption and absorption too in various places, but those will have the same root in French. I would translate reprise as uptake.
