Коллеги! Нужна помощь. Что-то я не пойму, что имеется в виде во второй части предложения: It’s disingenuous to leave that out, if only in terms of my mental picture.

Контекст: журналист берет интервью у бывшего писателя и много о чем его расспрашивает. А потом задает вопрос о бывшей жене.
“Can we talk about your ex-wife?” I returned fire.
“Oh, I don’t talk about any of that.” He set an open bottle of beer near my elbow. It was exactly what I wanted, cold and hoppy and smooth.
“Thanks.” I took another swallow. “Doesn’t that seem a little unfair?”
“How so? You’re writing for The New Yorker, not a tabloid.” He was unruffled. His tone said: I can do this all day.
“I’m not looking for sensational stuff. But all this”—I touched the pile of albums—“is really ideal. Flaws, struggles, those are what make people real to us. It’s disingenuous to leave that out, if only in terms of my mental picture.”
“I see what you’re saying.”

Explanation:
или умалчивание, игнорирование...
Я бы разбил на две части, чтобы не усложнять: про leave out в одной, а остальное -- в другой. "Это создало бы неправильное впечатление, по крайней мере у меня."
