A Mothercraft Nurse is an experienced nurse who has a high level of specialised training in caring for newborns. They are usually have qualifications in Mothercraft Nursing from TAFE or Tresillian & Karitane trained.
A Mothercraft Nurse cares for the baby and offers emotional support and gives advice to the mother. Duties will include bathing, feeding, changing and settling, Mothercraft Nurses establish a good routine of feeding and sleeping during the night, and even show you some tricks of the trade.
A Mothercraft Nurse will work for you for about 6-12 weeks and will live in when your new-born baby arrives home. They work 6 days a week for 24 hours a day! For this you will pay them between $1,200, $1,400. per week! However, there is great value in help at the beginning of your relationship with your new baby, organising your routine and leaving when you are comfortable and happy that you can care for your family without live in help.
