2015 international conference in Rotterdam, the Netherlands

June 13-14, 2015

"Supporting each other, learning from each other"

Young translators just entering the profession often feel they are not experienced enough to share their ideas. Experienced translators well into their career sometimes feel they are too old to learn new things.

Nothing is further from the truth.

We all know the challenges ahead but we may not know how to face them. Or maybe we do? No freelancer or outsourcer will want to give away his or her secrets, but what’s so wrong with exchanging opinions? The combined skills and talents in our profession are second to none. It’s just getting them all together that seems to be the difficult part...

This conference is not just about listening and learning, not just about teaching and preaching. Of course we can all learn from the experts – but we can also learn from each other. You can expect keynote speakers, you can expect top names from the linguistic world, but you will also have the opportunity to have YOUR say.

No problem if you want to sit at the back of the conference hall and take notes. Not everyone is an orator. But the 2015 international conference will be your opportunity to have your opinions heard in a profession that is sometimes too busy to listen.

 What will this event offer?

Where will this event take place?

The 2015 international conference will take place in Rotterdam, Netherlands, at the Inntel Rotterdam Centre Hotel. Click here for details.

Rotterdam is a modern, lively and dynamic city; in the past decade it has transformed itself from a slightly dreary and industrial port into an exciting, vibrant and progressive metropolis. Nowhere is this more evident than by the waterfront; old warehouses and shipyards compete with stunning modern architecture; the beautiful Erasmus Bridge has connected the city centre with the south bank, and the skyline is looking more like Manhattan every year…

But the city also has a history. It was from Delfshaven, now part of Rotterdam that the Pilgrim Fathers set sail in 1620. By 1898 Rotterdam boasted Europe’s tallest office building, but large parts of the city were destroyed during bombing raids from 1940 to 1943

Post-war redevelopment saw Rotterdam grow to become one of the largest ports in the world. And this is where the conference will take place; right by the waterfront, overlooking the harbour and the distant skyline. The conference centre itself is on the 16th floor, so we're really setting our sights high for this event. Rotterdam is a vibrant city in its own right; art, culture, museums, shopping, entertainment – all within walking distance from the conference centre.
