Virtual Computer, fournisseur d’applications hébergées (ou Application Service Provider), adopte les serveurs PRIMERGY de Fujitsu Siemens Computers pour proposer de la location d’applications bureautiques et de solutions entreprises, aux PME-PMI.
A ce jour, 6 serveurs Primergy de Fujtsu Siemens Computers gèrent les différentes applications logicielles : 4 serveurs d’applications quadriprocesseurs PRIMERGY 670-40 et 2 octoprocesseurs PRIMERGY N800 en cluster pour les serveurs de fichiers et de messagerie. De plus, Virtual Computer a choisi les baies de stockage PRIMERGY S40 du constructeur pour le stockage des données, d’une capacité globale de 1,2 Teraoctet.
Les serveurs PRIMERGY quadri et octoprocesseur présentent les caractéristiques essentielles pour répondre à la problématique des ASP : sécurité, modularité, évolutivité et haute disponibilité.
Ces serveurs sont regroupés au sein d’un centre baptisé « Data Center » parfaitement sécurisé. De plus, chaque fichier ou message externe passe obligatoirement par un sas de sécurisation, faisant appel aux meilleures technologies de protection informatique (pare-feu, anti-virus, anti-intrusion, etc.).
Pour l’entreprise cliente, il suffit de disposer d’une ligne de télécom-munications dédiée (RNIS, RTC en réseau privé virtuel, ou liaison spécialisée) et d’un client léger (PC, Windows Terminal) pour se connecter en toute sécurité au « Data Center » de Virtual Computer. Les programmes et les données restent sur les serveurs, seul l’affichage est transmis à l’utilisateur.
Bernard Blais, directeur des opérations de Virtual Computer, précise : « Plusieurs raisons ont fait pencher la balance pour notre partenaire. Non seulement, Fujitsu Siemens Computers est un fournisseur européen capable d’assurer la maintenance de notre infrastructure mais c’était aussi le seul partenaire à pouvoir nous fournir une solution complète intégrée, du fait notamment des synergies de ce groupe. En effet, l’infrastructure réseau a été assurée par Arche Groupe Siemens. »

Application service provider, Virtual Computer, adopts PRIMERGY servers from Fujitsu Siemens Computers with the intent to outsource office applications and business solutions to small and medium-sized businesses.
To this day, six Primergy servers by Fujitsu Siemens Computers handle the different software applications: 4 PRIMERGY 670-40 Quad-Core and 2 Eight-Core PRIMERGY N800 cluster servers for files and messaging systems. Furthermore, Virtual Computer chose the provider’s PRIMERGY S40 disk arrays for data storage, with a total capacity of 1.2 terabytes.
PRIMERGY Quad and Eight-Core servers are ideally suited for ASP needs, offering security, modularity, adaptability and high availability.
These servers are clustered in a perfectly secure Data Center. Furthermore, each external file or email must pass through a safety check, which utilizes the best in information technology security (firewall, anti-virus, intrusion prevention, etc.).
The corporate customer only needs dedicated internet access (ISDN, PSTN in a virtual private network or dedicated line) and a thin client (PC, Windows Terminal) to securely connect to the Virtual Computer Data Center. Programs and data remain on the servers; the user only sees data output.
Director of Operations at Virtual Computer, Bernard Blais, clarifies: “A number of reasons tipped the scale in favor of our partner. Not only is Fujitsu Siemens Computers a European provider capable of maintaining our infrastructure, but it is also the only partner able to offer a completely integrated solution, particularly the group’s synergies. In fact, the network infrastructure has been adopted by Arche Groupe Siemens.”
