But do you mean a NON-RESIDENT account? Jan 22, 2006

Only for those who speak Italian, a very-well known Italian online bank (belonging to Banca di Roma group) is www.fineco.it.

5,95 euro/month + Italian taxes on current accounts with free credit card.

Are u sure that they permit to NON-RESIDENT to open account?

Because about Banca Sella i'm sure, and in this other case i've the impression that it's not possibile, just looking the site..

go and live in an eu country Feb 6, 2006

A nice way around this, albeit not a very practical one, is to go and live in the eu country where you wish to open your account for a few months, open an account there and then leave, never informing them you're a non-resident. I've done so for banks in several european countries and have yet to encounter any problems. The fact that you can consult you account balance online means they never have to send you post. They're never going to have time to check up on whether you're non resident or no... See more

They're never going to have time to check up on whether you're non resident or not so you won't get caught out with those non-resident account holder fees.

Another option, for online banking, is ING, apparently they offer good deals.
