Nice and quiet here, ideal to get a good load done!

I prefer celebrating according to my own personal calendar

I just have too much to do and when I was visiting my relatives, just did not get anything done. But now I am back home, enjoy New Years eve and the normal daily routine carries on tomorrow!!

Yes Dec 31, 2009

I agree both with Michael Harris and Interlangue... when I was at my in-laws for Christmas I didn't get enough work done and now that I am back home I can catch up, work at my usual rhythm and celebrate whatever I feel, whenever I want to (or at least, that's what I like to say... Ultimately it isn't work that shapes the "holidays" anyhow, it is more my two year-old with coughs and fevers!)

I voted "Other", as to say "Yes" would sound like I was working throughout the holidays, which isn't true. I am working a little, but really very little by comparison to recent weeks. My availability is far more limited, and there has been very little in the way of work, anyway. I've written a couple of invoices and done two short jobs, and that's about it.

Happy New Year, everyone!

Work if I've got Work Dec 31, 2009

This is a good question.

I don't think I'm going to be working at midnight tonight - New Year's Eve! But will I be working today and tomorrow? Sure, if there's work around.

I visualise the month and year ahead rather like an artist does, as though it were a blank canvas that needs to be filled. At the moment I can't tell you which parts will be filled and which will not.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL

Late... Dec 31, 2009

This poll is a little late, since the holidays are officially over after tomorrow! I've worked a little during the holidays, but not much. Anyway, a very happy 2010 to all my ProZ colleagues!

No way Dec 31, 2009

I didn't work on the 24th or 25th Dec., neither will I today that we will prepare as a family several treats to receive the New Year (in about 15 hours from now), nor tomorrow that I'll be dead tired as I'll go to bed late.

My children have holidays too these days, so it would be a pity to be working at the computer while everybody else is relaxing, having fun, playing with fireworks, enjoying a good dinner, etc.

Happy New Year Greetings to all of you!!!

but yes, I am working today and tomorrow, and worked a few hours each day over the holidays.
I have a deadline on the 6th, and another on the 4th.

so far not! Dec 31, 2009

I did work through the holidays last year, right to the 27th. The early half of the month was really quiet and i needed the work, so i told my clients i'd be available. I'm single with no kids so I can spare the time. However, nothing materialized this year and most of them seem to be on holiday, so the holidays this year have been really quiet, work wise. I haven't minded that much, having some time off. However the holidays are over after the weekend! Most people are returning to work on monda... See more

i agree the poll is late but i suggested it over a week ago, before xmas for sure. I figured they'd have nixed it by now.

At a leisurely pace! Dec 31, 2009

I like Richard's comment and work if there is work to be done, but I am certainly not going to break a leg in the process of finishing it.

Feeling quite relaxed and mellow after a nice little holiday at my daughter.

May you all have a good New Year, balancing family life with work harmoniously!

Meaning of holidays? Dec 31, 2009

Usually it takes several weeks/months between a poll submission and its displaying. Was the person who asked this question really refering to the end of 2009?

Anyway, I answered "other" because I consider that "holidays" and "work" are antonyms. If I am on holiday, I don't work; and if I work, I am not on holiday.

Stéphanie

I had to work this holidays, but I'm taking some time off after all the people leave the beaches just for myself.
