Rzeczywiście, masz rację z tym "tajemniczo". Ja mam tendencję do rozjaśniania, i przeważnie staram się oddać myśl autora w sposób jak najbardziej zrozumiały; ale w końcu tłumaczenie to tłumaczenie - i co autor namącił, tłumacz niech (za bardzo) nie "odmąca" :D Dlatego po długich deliberacjach zdecydowałam się na Twoją propozycję.

dla mnie "skwantyfikowane" oznacza coś w rodzaju: skonstruowane lub przygotowane w taki sposób, że jest "mierzalne", "wymierne", "policzalne". W wymienianych kierunkach studiów jest nacisk właśnie na bliskość matematyki i obliczenia (quantitative economics w Polsce byśmy raczej nazwali ekonometrią). Dla mnie "skwantyfikowane" brzmi bardziej 'tajemniczo' niż prostsze "matematycznie ukierunkowane", a autor coś próbował kombinować, żeby nie było za prosto. :)

rzima: a czy "mocno skwantyfikowane" nie sugeruje raczej, że to środowisko jest *przedmiotem* obliczeń matematycznych (np. w ramach badań prowadzonych przez naukowców z zewnątrz), a nie, że jego członkowie muszą dużo rachować? Powiem szczerze, że coraz bardziej mi się podoba Twoja propozycja - jest w niej ta sama żargonowa niejasność, co w oryginale - ale nie ufam własnemu wyczuciu co do słowa "kwantyfikować".

Thank you for the clarification. That's what I thought, too - even though the dictionary insists on "ilościowo". However, I am not happy with "intensywny" here. The Polish word is much less flexible than the English one, in my opinion. It does not quite convey the sense of there being A LOT of something (number-crunching) going on. I was hoping to find some way around it.

Let me use this box to discuss the meaning of a "quantitatively intense environment." This is a way of saying that there will be a lot of numerical calculations. In case of an adjective describing a noun (e.g., quantitative analysis), I would have definitely said ilościowa analiza. In most every other use of quantitative as an adjective describing a noun, I would also say ilościowy/a. But here, "quantitatively" is an adverb describing an adjective "intense." Can "intense" be "ilościowy?" Can intense be expressed as a number? For this reason, I said obliczeniowo in order to reflect the SENSE of this expression: you will be in an environment where there will be a lot of number crunching.
