Master of Sciences in Geology, University of Warsaw, 2000

My main field of expertise in translation are Geosciences. I have completed one year of the above degree at Universität Würzburg, Germany. Stratigraphic and prospective geology, minerals, hydrogeology, solid fuels and environment protection are the broad areas I feel most competent working in.

I began studying languages at the Institute of Applied Linguistics (University of Warsaw) in 2000 and was fortunate to be awarded academic scholarship after two semesters. After three semesters I transferred to Wellington, New Zealand.

My translation and linguistics credentials come from Victoria University of Wellington, where I was awarded Bachelor Honors in German and Linguistics in 2003 and subsequently a Victoria University of Wellington postgraduate scholarship for Masters study which alllowed me to obtain the degree of

Master of Arts in German, Victoria University of Wellington, 2004

with thesis on the novels of Max Frisch. The graduate 400- and 500-level papers I took in due course involved reasonably sophisticated translation work in pairs English-German and German-English.

I worked at Citibank in Dublin as an English/German speaking Customer Service Representative and Training Partner from 2005 to 2007. During that time I obtained Specialist Certificate in Business Banking from the Institute of Bankers in Ireland.

More recently I was contracted as a geologist with Irish Dept. of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources.

Since May 2009 I have been responsible for the English side of the bilingual LOT Polish Airlines inflight magazine.

On top of the above areas of expertise, I also enjoy sports- (skiing, basketball) and travel related translations. As you can see in the sample translations attached, I tackle non-technical Polish into English translations from time to time.
