Powwow Update Apr 20, 2008

Many thanks to everyone who has expressed interest so far! Following some suggestions in the Events Forum (http://www.proz.com/topic/96710), we are going to try out a new format at the April powwow. Apart from the usual informal networking, there is going to be approx. an hour of moderated discussion on the generic topic of freelancing as a translator starting at 5pm.

Apart from the usual informal networking, there is going to be approx. an hour of moderated discussion on the generic topic of freelancing as a translator starting at 5pm.
Some points for discussion:
- How did you start out?
- Do you work with mainly direct or indirect clients?
- How do you market yourself?
- Do you feel that your rates have gone down (or gone up) over the years?
- Do you supplement your freelance income with income from other sources?
- How do you cope with the peaks and troughs of income in any given month?
