Description The UI Faculty of Foreign Languages was established as an independent faculty in 1974. The Faculty consists of the following departments: Department of English Language and Literature, Department of Arabic Language and Literature, Department of French Language and Literature, Department of German Translation, Department of Armenian Literature and Department of Linguistics. The Department of English Language and Literature, which is the oldest department of the faculty, was established in 1958 and the departments of French Language and Literature, Armenian Studies, Arabic Language and Literature, German Language and Literature and Linguistics were founded in 1959, 1960, 1962, 1994 and 2006 respectively. There were a total of 1352 students studying in B.A, M.A and PhD programs of the faculty in 2011.
