I am working on some movies projects but all I have is a dialogue in a Word file with time codings which I really can't extract them unlike if they where organized in Excel table.

I am sure some of you had encountered such a problem before, so i need some help.

try SubRip Nov 19, 2008

This program extracts subtitles into different formats. Read Help to understand the mechanism of subtitling.
The time code is needed to place the translated line back into the correct time-clots. So, you have to translate in segments minding also their length (to fit into the screen). Why not translating in Excel?

Bad news, Ahmed Nov 19, 2008

I saw your file, that's a timed script. There is no "easy" way.

There are starting times for the shots, but there are no time-in/time out spottings there.

Also, it seems that these are the entire lines the actors say. For subtitling, you should shorten them as much as possible. I'll do it in English here, without translating, for you to get the idea:

AUDIO: Quite honestly, it is my deephearted belief that...
SUBTITLE: I do believe that...

... otherwise there will be too much to read, and little or no time will be left for the spectators to actually WATCH the action, as they will be reading most of the time. So you could just e-mail or fax them the translated script, and they won't miss much.

So you'll have to go the full nine yards. The script is a good reference for you, especially in those moments where SFX/music obliterate part of what is said.

Good luck!
