I'm new working on CAT Tools, and I'm currently learning with Wordfast Pro 6. Probably this is a very basic question, but what does it mean to leverage a TM? Is it a compulsory procedure when using a TM?

Hi Sebastian,
"leveraging" a TM means that you will benefit from it when working for client B six months after you worked with client A and using the same content (your TM) or parts of it, so you can in theory work faster - with less effort and hopefully for the same rate or a higher one.

This has nothing to do with technical manipulations on TM's.
