Hi
All of a sudden I cannot open Wordfast and I receive the following error message on a pop-up:
Could not create the Java virtual machine
Oh là là. Au secours ! What shall I do ?

I have taken a picture of the long error message but cannot copy it on this message. I can send it to anyone who would know how to understand it

What are your versions of Java and Wordfast?
You can find out about your Java version at http://java.com/en/download/installed.jsp
As of now, it should be "Version 6 Update 26". If you have an older version, try installing the latest one.

Without seeing the message it is difficult to know, but I had a similar problem when I tried to change the memory usage settings in Wordfast.

Thank you for your reply. What I did was try to upload an .xlf file but it did not work. I did create a memory in order to try and upload the .xlf file but ENG-FR as usual. However, the settings at the bottom of the wordfast blank page appeared as ENG-DE-DE which came out of the blue since I never used this pair.

If you still have problems, you can completely uninstall Wordfast Pro. When you are asked to keep configuration files, answer with "NO", do not forget "NO".
Make sure you first back up your "glossaries" located in .wf_workspace folder, if any. Then, try re-installing the latest version of Wordfast Pro; hopefully, it could resolve that.

Yes, I had thought of that but in my programs, in control panel, Wordfast does not offer to reinstall so I figured I would have to download again and reinter the license number etc. So I was hoping another solution would be less painstaking and time consuming.

Well, could you please open your Start menu (at the very bottom to your left hand) and click "Search":

Then, type: wf_workspace - when you find it, just rename it.

There is not path to java.exe in my .ini. In my main log though I found this:
03-17@11:17:55 WARN (FiltersPreferencePage.java:132) - filter of type txlfFilter not found in the registry
Just for info as I am going to reinstall. In the end it seems the simpler solution.

Thank you for all your help Yasmin. I tried to rename but it did not change the problem.
I also found the main logs but no explanation of the sudden failure.
I hope reinstalling will word but before I uninstall I wonder if the problem comes from java, may be I will try to update java (in case I missed an update )
