I've just installed Wordfast Classic in my new pc with Windows 7 Home Edition and when I press Alt+arrow down to go from one segment to the next, the Word 2003 minimises and jumps to any other application open.

I closed them all and it goes to the desktop.

Help, please.

What happens if you use the mouse? Jul 10, 2012

What happens if you click on the corresponding icon (Start translation/Next segment) of the toolbar? If it works with the mouse, but not the keyboard, it could indicate the shortcut in question is in use in another application, utility, driver etc.

Try this: Jul 10, 2012

Maybe you could just delete the shortcut from Windows 7 to be able to use it in Wordfast or associate another key combination to this function.

edit: Deleted link, was pointing to a useless page, not the one I intended.

mouse and shortcut Jul 10, 2012

Hi Dominique, when I use the mouse, it works. I thought about that too, the shortcut for something else, but the pc is new, I got it yesterday, I have no idea what shortcut Alt+↓ stands for...

Hi Anna, thank you, but as I said, I have no idea where to delete the shortcut 'cause I dont know where/what it is.

Control panel -> Jul 10, 2012

-> Keyboard layout.

I believe you can change shortcuts if you go to where you change your keyboard language or add other languages.

There used to be a function to change the function of certain key combinations manually.

In Portuguese, I find it under Painel de Controle -> Mudar de teclado

Alt+down is not a usual shortcut on a new system Jul 10, 2012

Keyboard conflicts on new systems tend to be related to the graphics adapter and they usually involve shortcuts with Ctrl, Alt and arrow keys.
In Word 2003, select Tools > Customize > Keyboard. Put the cursor in the 'Press new shortcut key' field and press Alt+Down. You should normally see the text:

Currently assigned to: Wordfast.M0.WfNextSegment

If nothing else helps, you can assign another shortcut (one that doesn't conflict) to the NextSegment command via the UI tab.

no... Jul 10, 2012

I did everything.

I deleted the shortcut in Word, assigned a new one, did not work. Then I removed wfast, removed word, reinstalled word and wordfast, and the problem remains.

Checked the keyboard in control panel also and no, when I press Alt+arrwdw all over the place, nothing happens.

#disappointed...

Information about keyboard and layout Jul 10, 2012

What kind of keyboard do you have: is it a laptop's built-in keyboard or an external keyboard? If it is an external keyboard, is it a "regular" keyboard or a special keyboard (eg. ergonomic etc.)? Does the keyboard layout selected in Windows match the physical layout of the keyboard? For instance, if it is a Portuguese keyboard, do you use the layout for Portuguese in Windows? Do you have another keyboard at your disposal? If so, what happens when you connect it.

One thing you could use as a last resort is Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator. I used it a very long time ago to fix a shortcut problem due to a mismatch between the physical keyboard I had on my laptop at the time (US) and the keyboard layout I had configured for use with it in Windows (Finnish): Ctrl+Alt+M produced the Greek letter mu (μ) instead of calling Wordfast's Display TM function. The Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator let me "free" the shortcut Ctrl+Alt+M. It's not exactly easy to use, but it's not like you have many options left, given the unusualness of your problem.
