XXX, Inc. recommends installing a magnetic separator in the feed stream ahead of
mill to prevent tramp metal from entering mill.
If foreign objects enter mill, indicated by sudden noise in disc case, immediately shut down mill while under load without backing off grinding plates.

XXX, Inc. recommends installing a magnetic separator ahead of mill as a precaution.
CAUTION!
Pieces of tramp metal occasionally get into feed material and can cause sudden noise in disc case and possible damage to plates. While small pieces of tramp metal such as nails will not seriously damage mill, larger pieces such as bolts could fracture a plate.
WARNING!
If tramp metal gets into mill, immediately shut down mill while under load and without backing off grinding plates. DO NOT pull plates apart until rotating disc has stopped.
Tramp metal could be ejected through disc case if grinding plate gap is opened while running under load. Injury to personnel and/or serious damage to mill can result.
NOTE: Coast-down of mill to dead stop can take up to 20 minutes.
