Darius Saczuk Jun 28, 2012:
I tu: We all know the person who seems to break all the rules and get away with it. Perhaps they do, perhaps they don't, but perception is sometimes more potent than reality. This saying dates from the time when people had strong religious convictions and they were puzzled as to why some people appeared to get away with wrongdoing - hence the put-down of the Devil looking after them on Earth but hinting that they would get their comeuppance in Hell
Darius Saczuk Jun 28, 2012:
Tu definicja THE DEVIL LOOKS AFTER HIS OWN
Prov. Evil people are often prosperous or well taken care of. (Implies that they must be getting their prosperity from the devil, since they are not earning it by being good and deserving.) Jane: I don't understand why the corner store is still in business. They cheat everybody! Alan: Well, the devil looks after his own.
Darius Saczuk Jun 28, 2012:
Dla mnie "the devil looks after his own" jest najbardziej precyzyjnym odpowiednikiem, ale askerka ma widocznie inne zdanie.

wygląda na parafrazę;
"No harm befalls the righteous, but the wicked have their fill of trouble" - http://bible.cc/proverbs/12-21.htm

BTW the English equivalent of the proverb you mention is: "No disaster can befall a wicked person" - http://jemiolka.blogspot.com/2010/12/christmas.html

Yes, I'd say there must be something true hidden behind this quote. It too makes me think of a proverb that no disaster can befall a wicked person. - http://forum.thefreedictionary.com/postst10929_War-never-tak...
