Selected
contract for specific work; mandate (contract)
These two types of contracts are regulated under, respectively, Titles XV and XXI of the Polish Civil Code.
Art. 627 thereof specifies in very general terms that "As a result of a contract for specific work the contractor undertakes to carry out a specific work....", while Art. 734 specifies that "By the contract of mandate the contractor undertakes to perform a specific legal transaction for the principal." When differentiating between the two (which has important tax and social security implications) the emphasis is on the definition of "specific work" the criteria of which need to be met in order for a contract to be named "umowa o dzielo". Generally speaking, the tax treatment of "dzielo" is more favorable than that of "zlecenie".

Work For Hire
It is a very specific term used (at least in U.S.) for praca na zlecenie.
It is often referred to as Work Made for Hire.
Work or Project (Dzielo) for Hire usually indicates that the institution or person that hires will have perpetual rights, but not the obligation, to use and license the use of person's name in connection with the work. All intellectual properties, including copyrights and trademarks, resulting from these services are works made for hire and all rights are vest in the institution o person that hires.

project contract
I strongly oppose "contract for specific work" as the English-language equivalent of "umowa o dzieło". First of all, EVERY contract is for a specific work. Secondly, "specific work" misses the fact that "umowa o dzieło" is a one time job. Thridly, "contract for specific work sounds crude in English. I think "project contract" is the equivalent.
